The
2005 MAC Football Recruiting Analysis has compiled data from dozens of
public sources, including regional newspapers that cover MAC schools,
several "guru" periodicals and various Internet sources, along
with all 12 MAC sports information departments.
Please
Note:
- Most of these kids are
anywhere from 17-years to 20-years old so rankings are very subjective
- many things can happen to a young man in his college-playing career
like injuries, academic problems, personal issues, etc.
- There are often late bloomers
either who rarely show up on the recruiting radar screen and end up
becoming all-conference players and sometimes even NFL players. The
only way to know how good a class really has been is to look at them
after they have graduated in four or five years.
- I do not have grade
transcripts so the only way I have any idea of a potential “prop”
recruit is through published sources.
More often than not, I do not take this into consideration
unless it is publicized that there are several non-qualifiers.
Due
to increased national TV exposure, national ranked teams, Heisman
candidates, an ESPN Game Day visit and the general public’s realization
that the MAC plays solid football, MAC teams across the board brought in
tremendous talent once again this season.
Many players throughout the classes listed below had attractive
offers from BCS schools but chose a MAC institution.
Some of the BCS schools that lost players to MAC schools include
West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Northwestern,
South Carolina, North Carolina & Iowa State.
Kudos to the coaches and their staffs for putting together such
incredible recruiting classes once again this year.
Within the detail and listings of the recruits on the team’s analysis
are the general grades within my usual format of: OUTSTANDING, EXCELLENT, VERY GOOD, GOOD &
AVERAGE.
Again,
much of this analysis is subjective, so after clicking on your desired MAC
team to read and review, post your thoughts on the various Message Boards
provided on this site, or send me an Email from the home page. -Nick
