Overview:Toledo is 29-8 in the new millennium and this success helped bring the
Rockets a quality class of 21 players from eight states.Only five players hailed from Ohio while five are from Michigan and four
from Pennsylvania.Toledo also
ventured into North Carolina and Alabama for the first time in memory. This is a very balanced class with several players who can play multiple
positions and have big-play potential.
Highlights:
Signed
Scooter McDougle, ranked as the #10 FB in the country according to
Rivals.com.RB Terrance Graves
was rated by most recruiting publications as a top-100 RB in the country.
Quarterbacks
highlight this class with Marques Council being the athletic guy with a gun
for an arm and Cole Peace falling from the Crimson Tide’s
recruiting class to UT’s.
TE
Josh Powell was rated as a top-50 player at his position in almost all
recruiting publications.
Four
of the five Michigan players recruited were listed within the state’s
top-50 players while all four Pittsburgh area players made their area’s
“dream team,”
For
the 2nd straight year, Toledo failed to sign an impact DT, which
they sorely need.
Final
Thoughts:
Toledo signed a quality
and balanced class that will build depth at almost every position and a few
players who are good enough to play as freshmen.Toledo did not get any impact DTs, which they desperately needed to shore
up their interior defense, especially when you consider they graduated two
all-conference ILBs.Toledo did
sign a lot of multi-talented players who can play a variety of positions and
picked up more speed at the skilled positions.Overall the class rates as VERY
GOOD compared to the other conference classes this year.
