BUFFALO The View: Second year Coach Jim Hofher followed up last year’s quality recruiting class with anther gem that should be considered the school’s best. The Bull’s coaching staff brought in 24 players from nine different states and bolstered the talent on this team as they continue to strive to move up and prove they are a real Division I-A team to be reckoned with. Emphasis on speed, size and more strength was all addressed in this class that is headlined by QB Michael Radon. The Buffalo native stayed at home after having offers from Pittsburgh and Oklahoma. This highly decorated player won the "Connolly Cup" as Western New York’s top player and also earned the "Don Majkowski Award" as the state’s top QB in western NY. Other talented notable include Kevin Wiggins from Delaware, who was voted the state’s top lineman and is a two-time all-state award winner. Several schools from the Big East and ACC were courting his services. TE/DE Doug Anderwkavich is the type of player Buffalo has lacked in terms of speed with size (4.8/forty) and should see playing time right away. Joe DiGiorgio is a multi-talented player who was reated #44 in the state by the Detroit Free Press. Passing up several MAC offers to shuffle off to Buffalo, DiGiorgio proved to be a terrific player who can run or pass as a QB and plays OLB. Jared Patterson is a big RB who should be an impact player for this program. The big 6’2’’ 205 speedster a 4.4/40 is also the state’s 100meter champion and rushed for over 1,800 yards as a senior. RB Chris McDuffie is a player as well as he amazed over 4,600 yards rushing during his high school career. DB James Vann is a big-time hitter from the Philadelphia area while Leonard Washington is an unheralded player from the Akron area who may end up as a DE. Following a trecnd within the MAC, Coach Hofher went after bigger WRs who can be more effective in situational possession necessities.Analysis: Buffalo know it needs more speed to complete and they found it in this recruiting class. When you consider that this was a Division III school not long ago, you have to be amazed at what this coaching staff is doing to get quality student athletes to not only consider UB, but to commit as well. I really like this class and rate if VERY GOOD compared to other MAC schools. I also like how they are not going to quick fixes and getting a lot of JUCOs, but rather, building on strong freshmen classes who will be strong contributors over the next four or five years. With a few more classes like this, the Buffalo Bulls will not only become more competitive in the MAC but actually contend for a championship.
