Overview:For the 2nd straight year, I have this program as signing the
top recruiting class in the MAC.UCF
really got some show-stoppers as six of the 20 recruits coming from the sunshine
state were rated by most recruiting services as top-100 players in Florida. Also, eight players in this class rate as top-100 players at their
respected positions nationally by both Rivals.com and Insiders.com internet
recruiting services.Speed was once
again addressed by UCF and nearly three-forths of this class had reported offers
from BCS schools.
Highlights:
Last
year UCF brought in five JUCOs for immediate help. This year, five more were signed, but unlike last year when all
participated in spring practictices, this year, all are expected to join the
team during summer drills.
UCF
singed some premium DBs and WRs.Ron
Ellis & Renford Parkes are considered top-50 DB players in the country
while wideouts Chris Narsesian & Mike Walker were considered top-30
players at their position in the country.
Steven
Moffett is considered a top-20 pro-style QB in the country, threw for over
5,000 career yards and 43 TDs.He
had reported offers from Georgia, Tennessee & South Carolina.
RB
Ron Williams was a PrepStar All SE player and some recruiting services had
him listed as a top-50 running back in the country.
Harvey
Joiner is an intriguing TE prospect at 6-3, 274, with 4.7/40 speed.
Final
Thoughts:
It’s
difficult not to pick UCF as the top class in the MAC given these players
impressive resumes.So much size
and speed was gathered again that few MAC schools match this year’s
UCF class within their respected recruiting classes. With that said, this class is not quite as impressive as last year’s
stellar class, which I proclaimed as the best ever in the MAC.Over the next two or three years, we’ll
see if that bold statement lends itself to many, or any, conference
championships or bowl wins.But
without question this class rates as OUTSTANDING
compared to the other conference schools this year for football recruits.
