Overview:Coach Gregg Brandon brought in a very nice class for his first season as
head coach.The Falcons welcome 23
players from nine different states to their program.Eight players come from Ohio, four from Michigan while others are
scattered from California to Georgia.Speed
was addressed big time in this class as well as quality offensive linemen.
Highlights:
Offensive
linemen Korey Lichtensteiger, Kevin Huelsman & Drew Nystrom highlight
this class as all three had attractive offers from Big Ten schools.
The
highest-ranking recruits were QB Benjy Kennedy (#32 rated duel threat QB in
the country/4.3 speed) and WR Greg Hutcherson (#77 rated WR in the country
by Rivals.com).Both were
highly recruited players who stayed committed to BG even after the coaching
change.
High-octane
speed is displayed within this current class by the following DB recruits;
Virgin Robinson (4.3/40) and Loren Hargrove (4.42/40).
Deaudre
Perry is a big DB who may also play OLB with his 4.5/40 speed.
Like
many MAC schools, Bowling Green could have used more DT help in this
recruiting class.
Final
Thoughts:
When
you consider that former Coach Urban Meyer bolted for Utah during the prime time
of recruiting season, this is really a terrific class put together by Gregg
Brandon.BG does not have the top
of the line football facilities in this conference but the current coaching
staff really preached their recent football success and what it takes to get to
the next level. This is a very fast
class and rates as VERY GOOD
compared to other conference schools this year.
