2003 Recruiting Analysis
Below is the 2003 MAC Football Recruiting Analysis.
Data has been taken from dozens of public sources, including regional newspapers
that cover MAC schools, several "guru" publications and utilized
various Internet sources. Finally, I would like to thank all 14 MAC sports
information directors for providing information for their respected schools.
Like many recruiting forums, please keep in mind that most
of these kids are anywhere from 17-years to 20-years old, so these rankings are
very subjective. Many things can happen to a young man in his college-playing
career like injuries, grades, personal issues, or lack of anticipated
development that can hinder how a class may really pan out. And let’s not
forget the late bloomers either who rarely show up on the recruiting radar
screen and end up becoming all-conference players and sometimes even NFL
players. The only way to know how good a
class really has been is to look at them after they have graduated in four or
five years.
Just like last year, I would consider this year’s MAC
football recruiting class to be one of, if not the very best class that I have
ever witnessed coming into this conference! Many of these young men had some
very attractive offers from BCS schools, so kudos to the coaches and their
staffs for putting together such incredible recruiting classes across the board.
One final note on my rankings, I do not take into
consideration in my rankings on any possible non-qualifiers.
I do not receive any grade transcripts and I do not report on any
second-hand information on who may be, or will be, a Prop 48 casualty this fall.
Within the detail and listings of the recruits on the
team’s analysis are the general grades within my usual format of: OUTSTANDING,
EXCELLENT, VERY GOOD & AVERAGE.
Three yeas ago I tabbed Marshall as the #1 class, two
years ago I had Western Michigan as my top class, and I had UCF listed as the #1
class in 2002. Once again, I’ve
got UCF tabbed as the best class in the MAC.
Congrats to all schools for brining in some quality student athletes to
MAC institutions for 2003!
Again,
much of this analysis is subjective, so after clicking on your desired MAC team to read
about, post thoughts on the various Message Boards provided on this site, or
send me an Email from the home page. -Nick
