Quarterbacks
Chester Stewart from Maryland's famed DeMatha Catholic is the lone QB signed. Stewart is a talented athlete who led his team to a state title and earned all sorts of area and state honors. He is from the same high school as Philadelphia Eagle star Brian Westbrook.

Running Backs
Eight different players are listed as a RB prospect; here is a look at the headliners. Marcellous Grigsby is from Sacramento (AC) JC and could be a starter from day one. At 5-11 205 with good speed and power, Grigsby earned a top-100 ranking by JCFootball.com and drew recruiting interests from WAC and Mountain West schools. Janes Jones participated in the south Florida all-star game and was rated as a top-40 prospect in Florida. Corwin Acker from Landover (MD) earned honorable mention honors by The Washington Post. Richie Walls from Downingtown (PA) could prove to be a steal as either a RB, slot back or WR. He is a real playmaker with good speed. Kee-Ayre Grffin is a suburb athlete who could play RB, WR or DB. He was rated the #19 prospect in New Jersey.

Receivers
Two receivers were added, Michael Campbell and Delano Green. Campbell had good size at 6-2 200 and is from Edison (NJ). He will be participating in the New Jersey North/South game. Green is a lightening quick prospect from Virginia who played at Fork Union Prep last year. He could become a dangerous return specialist in college. Derek Dennis is a 6-4 280 pound prospect who could end up playing TE, DE or OL. His cousin is former Dallas Cowboy LB Dexter Coakley.

Offensive Line
Just two of the twenty nine players signed are listed as offensive linemen, Lloyd Codada and John Palumbo. Codada is a huge prospect at 6-3 315 and projects as an OG in college. He earned all-state honors in New Jersey and will participate in their North/South All Star game. Palumbo is a top-50 recruit from New Jersey who looks to be an OT but also played DT in high school.

Defensive Line
Six different defensive linemen were signed and most are listed as a DE. Matt Balasavage drew interest from Big East and MAC schools in Lancaster (PA) earning all-state honors and being ranked as a top-40 prospect in the Keystone state. Tyreek Spain is a DE/OLB hybrid type of player from near-by Ambler (PA). Chris Tremel is a 6-4 275 specimen who could play DE or DT in college and earned all-state honors in New Jersey. Muhammed Wilkerson from Linden (NJ) could become a dominating DE at 6-5 255 and is a nationally ranked power forward prospect for D-I basketball.

Linebackers
The strength of this class is the LBs that were signed. If you look at NFL rosters, you will see a lot of Temple players around the league and most are LBs. Tommie Weatherspoon may be the next great defensive player for the Owls as this Georgia native was a nationally rated JUCO from Reedley (CA) JC. Wallace Bates is another solid JUCO from the College of the Canyons. Each has tremendous size at 6-1 245 and 6-2 230 respectively. Amara Kamara is one of the most heavily recruited MAC players signed. Kamara is a top-40 rated LB nationally and earned all-state honors in New Jersey.

Defensive Backs
Philadelphia native Daryl Robinson was is another plum recruit not only because he is a local product, but that he was rated the #20 DB prospect in the nation by one recruiting service. He could be a true freshman that makes an immediate impact and is a vintage cover corner. Moses Parker earned 2 nd team all-state honors in Gainesville (FL) who was a tackling machine from his DB spot.

Specialists
No players were listed for this position.

Final Analysis
This is the first year that this publication has highlighted Temple recruits within the annual MAC Recruiting Report. Al Golden and his staff wanted to get back to local recruiting with lots of Philadelphia area kids, Pennsylvania and New Jersey recruits. This class accomplishes that task with some outstanding talent brought into the program. The strength of the LBs, RBs and DE prospects is evident throughout the class. There is size and speed and only a few JUCOs added for those immediate need areas. Entering into this season, Temple will have nearly sixty players who are either freshmen or sophomores. While this class rates as VERY GOOD compared to the other MAC schools this year, Temple was able to sign some real show-stoppers and the future looks bright for the Owl football program going forward.
