Quarterbacks
Nate Brown is a dual threat QB prospect from Harrisburg (PA). At 6-4 225, he brings size and athleticism to the position immediately. He accounted for 30 TDs both passing and rushing and drew recruiting interests from Big East and MAC schools.

Running Backs
The prize recruits this year for BG are in the RB unit. Eric Ransom is from Waco (TX) and comes to BG via Trinity Valley CC. Ransom earned several JUCO accolades and attended the same high school as LaDainian Tomlinson. Mark Wooldridge is the highest rated prep player in this class. Wooldridge rushed for over 1,700 yards as a senor at Akron’s Walsh Jesuit High scored 18 TDs. He was heavily recruited by all of the MAC schools and drew significant interest from Big East and lower tier Big Ten schools. Both should provide an immediate impact to the RB corps. Willie Geter is a speedy scat-back from Miami (FL) who adds much speed and can play a variety of skilled offensive positions.

Receivers
Ray Hutson is a top-40 player from Michigan. The Detroit product has solid speed and good hands. Adrian Hodges is from Jacksonville (FL) and earned all district honors. Each receiver is in the 6-2 180-pound range. There was no prospect initially listed as a TE.

Offensive Line
BG added two offensive linemen. Josh Dodge earned second team all-state honors from Dennellon (FL) while Ben Bojicic is from Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison High.

Defensive Line
Five players in this class are slated for the defensive line. Nick Torresso is the bell cow of the group at 6-3 290. The Schaumberg (IL) native recorded nine QB sacks from his DT position. Another Illinois product is Kevin Alvarado from East Chicago – he earned all state honorable mention honors as a senior. Andrew Johnson is a top-50 rated player from Michigan and earned honorable mention all-state honors as a senior. He offers very good size for the DE position at 6-4 265. Fellow Michigan native Preston Burrell also adds immediate size at 6-5 270. Darren Branch from Twinsburg (OH) rounds out the defensive line prospects, earned all-area honors as a senior.

Linebackers
Jerrson Davis is an excellent athlete who should be able to play right away coming out of Coffeyville CC. The South Carolina native brings 4.5/40 speed to either the ILB or OLB position. Glen Stanley, Gary Wright and Christopher Young are all Florida recruits who bring a lot of speed to the Falcons LB unit. Each earned various all area honors and each has a knack for creating turnovers.

Defensive Backs
Anthony Smith is the lone DB prospect in this class. Smith has good size at 6-1 190 and is from Orange (NJ) but played at Cincinnati’s Harmony Prep last season.

Specialists
After signing two highly regarded kickers last year, the Falcons were forced to address this area again this year after both kickers from last years class left the program in December. Nick Iovinelli is a JUCO from Harper College in Illinois and should be ready from day one to handle the kicking duties. BG also signed Sinisa Vrvilo, a 260-pound PK/punter. He is another JUCO kicker and comes from Trinity Valley CC in Texas.

Final Analysis
It was very difficult for this publication to gauge this year’s BG recruiting class since there was very little information on these prospects until very late in recruiting period. BG needed to find speed across the board and size along the defensive line and seemed to have done just that. While the Falcons were more successful in Michigan this year they were much less successful in their home state of Ohio and nearby Pennsylvania as they have been in years past. Still, there are some solid players in this class and the RB prospects added look to be very good. Overall this class rates as AVERAGE compared to other MAC schools this year.
