2005 MAC Football Recruiting - Bowling Green FalconsOverview The Falcons signed 26 players from 11 states. Ten of the players are from Ohio with four from Michigan, three from Illinois, two from Florida, and one from the following states; PA, VA, SC, AZ, LA, IN & AK. Fourteen of these players were high school team captains and 15 have had playoff experience. The class is very well balanced with 13 players on each side of the ball. Defensively the emphasis was on linemen (5) and DBs (5) while offensively the emphasis was on linemen (6) and WR (3). The Alaskan player is Rhett Magner, younger brother of graduated WR Cole Magner. TE Ruben Ruiz is the lone JUCO transfer after earning honorable mention all-American honors from Arizona Western CC. Top Player - Thomas James, DL
Highlights
This class does not have the eye-popping flair of 2004’s prospects but certainly has many quality players who will contribute well during their collegiate careers. Last year’s incoming freshmen class was mainly “red-shirted” and Coach Brandon plans on doing the same for most of these incoming players. This is the type of class that goes relatively unnoticed at first and then four or five years later you look back and see that they have produced tremendously for the program. While this rates as VERY GOOD compared to the other MAC schools this year, make no mistake, there are some very solid football players in this mix.
