Nick’s Pick: NIU 31 – Miami 27

Central Michigan @ Army

  • Central Michigan won for the third time on the road and dealt Army its 10th straight loss dating to last season
  • The game was played in a steady downpour
  • Scott Wesley gained a career-high 150 yards rushing and scored the Black Knights' lone TD
  • Ontario Sneed led CMU with 82 yards rushing
  • CMU out gained Army 257 to 239 in total yards

Nick’s Pick: CMU 24 – Army 21

Actual Score: CMU 14 – Army 10

Nick’s Prophetic Comment : "This is a game with two evenly matched teams. Army has lost two games to BCS teams that they had a shot to beat while Central has played better on the road this season in Kelly’s 2nd season. I am picking the Chips but Army could just as easily win this game."

Maryland @ Temple

attendance at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA: 11,311

Nick’s Pick: Maryland 45 – Temple 7

Actual Score: Maryland 38 – Temple 7

Nick’s Prophetic Comment: "The beatings will continue for the lowly Owls."

Akron @ Buffalo

attendance at UB Stadium in Buffalo, NY: 8,279

  • Brett Biggs ran for a touchdown and Jason Swiger kicked a pair of field goals as Akron scored all its points in the fourth quarter
  • Luke Getsy completed 12 of 32 passes for 145 yards, 131 of them in the second half to direct the Zips' late rally
  • Getsy completed only 3 of 15 in the first half
  • Akron finished with 224 yards of total offense, but just 33 yards came in the first half
  • Drew Willy, Buffalo's freshman QB making his second career start, was 12-for-25 for 71 yards and with an interception
  • Buffalo had 10 first downs for the game while Akron had 9

Nick’s Pick: Akron 21 – Buffalo 17

Actual Score: Akron 13 – Buffalo 7

Nick’s Prophetic Comment: "Buffalo is running out of games to win and this contest versus Akron is one of the few they will have any shot. Akron is still learning how to have a killer instinct and probably will not put away Buffalo early enough to cruise."

Ohio @ Bowling Green

attendance at Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, OH: 14,177

  • Omar Jacobs threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns and B.J. Lane ran for two scores in the second half
  • Charles Sharon had 10 receptions for 185 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons
  • BG has won four straight vs. Ohio
  • The Bobcats rushed for just 68 yards
  • BG’s Jelani Jordan also had two interceptions for the second straight game
  • BG has 31 first downs to just 10 for OU
  • BG had 573 total yards to just 239 for the Bobcats

Nick’s Pick: BGSU 37 – Ohio 28

Actual Score: BGSU 37 – Ohio 14

Nick’s Prophetic Comment : "Bowling Green is a much better team at home than on the road but Ohio has the defensive backs to give Omar Jacobs fits."

Ball State @ Western Michigan

attendance at the Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI: 18,183

  • Brian Jackson's 30-yard field goal in the fifth overtime ended the longest game in Mid-American Conference history, giving Ball State a 60-57 win
  • The game was tied at 37 after regulation
  • The teams combined for 1,090 yards of total offense and 16 touchdowns in a game that took four hours to complete
  • It was the longest NCAA game this season, but fell two overtimes short of the NCAA record
  • Both quarterbacks -- Ball State's Joey Lynch and Western's true freshman Tim Hiller -- threw for more than 300 yards
  • Lynch completed 23 of 40 passes for 306 yards
  • Greg Jenning's school-record fourth touchdown catch in the third overtime gave Western a chance to win but the Broncos' 2-point conversion failed - Jennings had a career-best 244 receiving yards, pushing his career yardage over 3,000
  • Ball State won in the fifth overtime by forcing a fumble on Western's possession -- the only turnover in overtime
  • Western's Nate Meyer had two chances to win it; he missed a 49-yard field goal on the last play of regulation and missed a 32-yard kick on the final play of the fourth overtime

Nick’s Pick: WMU 28 – Ball State 24

Actual Score: Ball St 60 – WMU 57 (5 OTs)

Nick’s Prophetic Comment : "The Cardinals can compete with WMU and this is one of the few contests they can win. Western will win at home but the game will be close as these two teams have played some very entertaining contests over the past decade."

Eastern Michigan @ Toledo

attendance at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, OH: 25,266

  • Trinity Dawson rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown
  • Bruce Gradkowski completed 15 of 26 passes for 160 yards for the Rockets but was plagued with dropped balls all night – including three TDs passes that were dropped by wide open receivers in the end zone
  • UT finished with 456 of total offense to just 291 for EMU
  • The Rockets rushed for 295 yards
  • Matt Bohnet completed 14 of 28 passes for 128 yards for the Eagles
  • EMU committed 2 turnovers
  • The Rockets held the Eagles to 101 yards rushing
  • EMU freshman QB Tyler Jones was impressive in limited play during the first half passing 10-13 for 38 yards and rushing for 22 more
  • Toledo has won its last six meetings with the Eagles and lead the all-time series 23-10

Nick’s Pick: Toledo 48 – EMU 23

Actual Score: Toledo 30 – EMU 3

Nick’s Prophetic Comment : "Tom Amstutz has never lost to a Michigan MAC team and has actually beaten them by an average of 22 points per contest collectively. UT will win big."
