MAC Football Notes:

  • The MAC has six programs bowl eligible -- Northern Illinois (9-1), Kent State (9-1), Toledo (8-2), Ohio (8-2), Ball State (7-3) and Bowling Green (7-3) for a combined 48-12 record
  • The MAC is the only FBS program outside the SEC (7) to have six programs with seven wins or more this season
  • MAC midweek football continues on Wed., Nov. 14 as Ohio travels to Ball State at 8 pm ET (ESPNU) and Toledo plays at Northern Illinois at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT (ESPN2)
  • Kent State cracked the AP Top 25 for the first time since 1973 as the Flashes are ranked No. 25 in the nation. Kent State’s eight game winning streak is the longest in program history and its nine wins are tied for the most in school history
  • NIU QB Jordan Lynch leads the nation in points responsible for (210), ranks third in total offense (3,517) and fifth in rushing yards per game (134.2 ypg). Lynch entered the season as a first-year starter and playing behind an offensive line that entered the season without a returning starter
  • Miami QB Zac Dysert topped 11,000 passing yards for his career and ranks 26th all-time in NCAA career passing yards (11,452); Dysert ranks second all-time in MAC records in completions (1,014), third in passing yards (11,452) and attempts (1,589)
  • Five programs are in consideration for MAC Divisional crowns and key games this week will determine who heads to Detroit for the 2012 Marathon MAC Football Championship Game on Nov. 30; Nov. 14, Toledo will travel to Northern Illinois at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT (ESPN2) and Ohio is at Ball State at 8 pm ET (ESPNU), while Kent State will visit Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Noon ET (ESPN Regional/ESPN Game Plan/ESPN3)…in the West Division, Northern Illinois can clinch with a win over Toledo, however the Rockets can clinch with wins over Northern Illinois and a win over Akron next Tuesday, Nov. 20. Also in consideration, if the MAC West ends in a three-way tie with Northern Illinois, Toledo and Ball State all with 6-2 conference records, Ball State would clinch the West Division if they win their next two contests over Ohio and at Miami…in the East Division, Kent State can clinch with a win at Bowling Green, however the Falcons can clinch with wins over Kent State and a win over Buffalo on Nov. 23

Ohio at Ball State

Notes: Ohio lost to Bowling Green, 26-14, on Nov. 7...The loss was the first at

home this year and first setback at Peden Stadium since their contest vs. Ball State in 2011...QB Tyler Tettleton finished with 145 passing yards and became Ohio’s all-time career leader with 5,475, passing Sammy Shon...Tettleton has accounted for 60 TDs in his career (15 rushing, 44 passing and one receiving). Ball State beat Toledo 34-27 on Nov. 6... Ball State’s win over Toledo, the No. 23 team in the AP poll and No. 25 in ESPN/USA Today, was the first for the Cardinals over a ranked opponent since 2001. That win also came over Toledo (24-20) when the Rockets were ranked No. 23 by ESPN/USA Today and No. 25 by AP.

Notes: Toledo lost to Ball State, 34-27; on Nov. 6...RB David Fluellen carried 34

times for 200 yards with one touchdown, recording at least 200 yards for the third time this season...Fluellen also topped the century mark for a sixth consecutive game, the third-best mark in school history...Senior LB Dan Molls’ 132 tackles also leads the nation. Northern Illinois beat UMass 63-0 on Nov. 3...QB Jordan Lynch extended his NCAA Record for most consecutive 100-Yard Rushing Games by a QB to eight games...Lynch has not thrown an interception in six games (165 passes)...Lynch has led Huskies to nine straight wins and is the only player in FBS this season with two games of 150-plus passing AND 150-plus rushing yards.

Bowling Green beat Ohio, 26-14, on Nov. 7...RB Anthon Samuel rushed for 181 yards on 29 carries, both career highs...Falcon defense had four sacks and limited Ohio to only 244 yards of total offense, including 99 yards rushing and 145 yards passing...Falcons close the regular season with two consecutive home games vs. Kent State and Buffalo.

Notes: Miami lost to Kent State, 48-32...For the second time this season, Miami had two wide receivers go over 100 yards in the same game as Nick Harwell totaled 122 yards on 10 catches and Andy Cruse had 123 receiving yards on eight grabs...QB Zac Dysert threw for 455 yards Saturday, moving him into 26th place on the NCAA’s all-time passing yardage list with 11,452 career yards. Central Michigan beat Eastern Michigan 34-31...RB Zurlon Tipton surpassed the 100-yard barrier for the fourth consecutive game and for the fifth time this season, finishing with 110 yards on 21 carries, and also surpassed the 1,000-yard milestone for the first time in his career...Tipton’s 1,093 yards are the most since Dan LeFevour had 1,122 in 2007.

Notes: The Eagles lost to Central Michigan 34-31...Senior QB Alex Gillett rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns, threw for 77 yards (7-of-17) and one touchdown, while also catching two passes for 11 yards...Gillett became the first Eastern Michigan player to have a rush, a pass reception, and a pass attempt in the same game since Tyler Jones accomplished the feat Oct. 28, 2008 vs. Ball State. Western Michigan lost at Buffalo, 29-24...QB Alex Carder made his first start since Oct. 6 vs. UConn, after missing the last six games with a broken finger...Carder finished with three touchdowns and 275 yards and completed 19 of 37 pass attempts...WR Justin Collins had a career night, setting career highs with six receptions for 122 yards and tied a career-high with a 28-yard reception.

Notes: Buffalo beat Western Michigan, 29-24...QB Joe Licata went 21-for-33 for 285 yards and a touchdown...DB Cortney Lester led the defensive effort with a career-high three interceptions – a Division I-A school record...RB Branden Oliver had 75 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown before leaving in the first quarter with an injury. UMass defeated Akron, 22-14...QB Mike Wegzyn threw for 266 yards against Akron - his second highest total of the season...K Blake Lucas scored a career-high three field goals on the day, which also marked a season-high for the team as Lucas hit from 23 yards, 26 yards, and 35 yards...The UMass defense held Akron to a season best 14 points in their first FBS victory in the MAC.
