MAC Football Notes:

  • TOLEDO GET TOP 25 RANKING FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2001...Toledo is ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Poll for the first time since 2001; the Rockets also are ranked No. 25 in the BCS Standings and the USA Today Coaches Poll #ranking in the BCS is the programs first ranking ever in the BCS Standings...Toledo will host Ball State on Tues., Nov. 6 at 8 pm ET on ESPN2
  • With four MAC programs with only one loss, the collective efforts of Toledo (8-1), Northern Illinois (9-1), Ohio (8-1) and Kent State (8-1) at a combined record of 33-4 are certainly getting noticed by the national polls
  • Northern Illinois, Kent State and Ohio also each received votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. Northern Illinois earned a 63-0 win over UMass to improve to 9-1. The Huskies received 64 votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and 88 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, the most of any program outside the top 25 in each poll
  • Kent State defeated Akron 35-24 and improved to 8-1 overall and received 61 votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and 32 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Kent State has won seven straight games, the best streak since 1940 and a 5-0 record in the conference for the first time in program history. Kent State will travel to Miami on Sat., Nov. 10 at 1:00 pm ET (SportsTime Ohio)
  • Ohio defeated Eastern Michigan 45-14 and improved to 8-1 overall and received 22 votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and 34 votes in the USA Today Coaches
  • The MAC is the only conference in FBS with four programs with only one loss. Northern Illinois (9-1), Toledo (8-1), Kent State (8-1) and Ohio (8-1) have a combined 33-4 record
  • Along with Ball State and Bowling Green both at 6-3 overall, the MAC has six teams bowl eligible, which is the second most in FBS outside of the SEC (seven programs)
  • Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch leads the nation with 1,342 rushing yards. Lynch set an NCAA record for consecutive 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback with his eighth consecutive 100-yard rushing game, 157 yards in a 63-0 win over UMass
  • Miami QB Zac Dysert became the program’s career passing leader with 10,997 passing yards, surpassing Ben Roethlisberger; Dysert also ranks among several MAC career passing leaders including: third in attempts (1,539) and completions (977), sixth in passing yards (10,997) and 13th in passing touchdowns (66)
  • MAC midweek football continues as Ball State travels to Toledo on Tue., Nov. 6 at 8 pm ET(ESPN2) and Bowling Green visits Ohio on Wed., Nov. 7 at 8 pm ET (ESPN2)
  • BGSU DT Chris Jones ranks tied for first in the nation with 11.5 sacks
  • Buffalo RB Branden Oliver rushed for 199 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries in a 27-24 win over Miami. It was the ninth best single game total in school history and the fourth best effort in the Bulls Division IA era; Oliver also added a team-high five receptions for 17 yards and a total of 216 all-purpose yards
  • Western WR Eric Monette recorded the third most receiving yards in the country with a career high 196 on a career high 11 receptions in Western Michigan’s 42-31 win over Central Michigan; it was the second-straight game with over 100 yards receiving
  • NIU QB Jordan Lynch completed 15-of-19 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 157 yards on 15 carries with a 57-yard touchdown run in a 63-0 win over UMass; Lynch passed the 100-yard mark in rushing yards for the eighth straight game, which is an NCAA record for a quarterback; Lynch’s season total of 1,342 rushing yards leads the country
  • Central Michigan WR Titus Davis accounted for 41 percent of Central Michigan’s 506 total yards of offense in a 42-31 loss to Western Michigan. Davis caught 10 passes for a career-high 208 yards and one touchdown
  • Kent State RB Trayion Durham scored a career-high three touchdowns, including two on fourth-down plays in the second half during Kent State’s 35-24 victory over Akron; Durham ran for 107 yards on 24 carries. It was the first time since 2008 (Julian Edelman) a Kent State player ran for three touchdowns in a game
  • Ohio WR Donte Foster caught seven passes for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 45-14 win over Eastern Michigan; Foster’s 164 yards receiving tied him for eighth all-time in school history for a single game. His 79-yard touchdown reception in the second half was the Bobcats’ longest offensive play from scrimmage this season

Notes: Ball State beat Army 30-22 on Oct. 27...QB Keith Wenning completed his

50th career touchdown pass with 11:50 left in the first quarter and now has 17 touchdown passes this season, tied for sixth on the Ball State single season list...WR Jamill Smith had his seventh career touchdown reception which also marked his fourth in the last six games. Toledo beat Buffalo 25-20 on Oct. 27...Rockets gained 412 yards of total offense, 297 of which came in the second half...Junior RB David Fluellen rushed for 228 yards and two TDs and passed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career and now has 1,181 yards on the season, the ninth-highest total for a Rocket in a season.

RB John Pettigrew recorded career-bests in carries (24), and yards (136). Ohio beat Eastern Michigan 45-14 on Nov. 1...Ohio outgained Eastern Michigan 559-305 as the Bobcats’ 500-yard plus effort was Ohio’s second-largest offensive output of the season...Junior RB Ryan Boykin totaled a season-best 128 yards rushing and one touchdown...QB Tyler Tettleton threw three touchdown passes for the sixth time in his career and finished with 255 yards passing.
