Buffalo at MiamiNick’s Pick: Miami 27 – Buffalo 23 Actual Score: Buffalo 42 – Miami 17 Comment: The lone game we missed this weekend. Brandon Thermilus rushed for two touchdowns and caught another as Thermilus ran for 126 yards and caught a 29-yard touchdown on his only reception for the Bulls. UB’s Zach Maynard was 13-for-18 with 136 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 61 yards and a score. Zac Dysert threw for 194 yards with one touchdown and an interception for Miami.
Central Michigan at Ball StateNick’s Pick: Central 38 – Ball State 17 Actual Score: Central 35 – Ball State 3 Comment: Dan LeFevour threw four touchdown passes, ran for a fifth score and became the all-time leading passer in MAC history. The senior quarterback threw for 344 yards and no interceptions before taking a seat midway through the fourth quarter. LeFevour now has 12,000 yards passing, breaking the record of 11,903 established by Byron Leftwich of Marshall from 1999-2002. Antonio Brown had 170-reception yards as Central dominated the stats with 512 yards of total offense to just 231 for the Cardinals.
Akron at Bowling GreenNick’s Pick: BGSU 41 – Akron 21 Actual Score: BGSU 36 – Akron 20 Comment: Tyler Sheehan had a record-setting day throwing for 338 yards and two touchdowns for BGSU. Sheehan threw scoring passes of 4 and 15 yards to Freddie Barnes and became the Bowling Green leader in career pass completions with 914, passing Brian McClure (1982-85) with 900. Barnes leads the nation in receptions per game (11.7) had 12 catches for 197 yards. Patrick Nicely threw for 259 yards for Akron.
Eastern Michigan at ToledoNick’s Pick: Toledo 42 – Eastern 21 Actual Score: Toledo 47 – Eastern 21 Comment: DaJuane Collins ran for two touchdowns and Morgan Williams rushed for another to lead Toledo. Williams finished with 155 yards rushing and one touchdown for the Rockets while Collins rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns. As a team Toledo rushed for 330-yards and controlled the ball for over 36-minutes of the game. The Rockets dominated in total offense over the Eagles; 452-269.
Kent State at TempleNick’s Pick: Temple 30 – Kent State 17 Actual Score: Temple 47 – Kent State 13 Comment: Folks, Temple is for real. This Owl team is getting better and better every week and truly believes in themselves, and now they have this publication believing in them too. Matt Brown ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns and Delano Green had two scores to lead Temple keeping the Owls on course for a Mid-American Conference title game appearance. The Owls have won a share of the Eastern division crown and can clinch a spot in the MAC title game by beating Ohio University Friday night. Temple rushed for 275-yards and forced three turnovers. Spencer Keith passed for 232-yards for the Golden Flashes.
Northern Illinois at OhioNick’s Pick: Ohio 20 – NIU 16 Actual Score: Ohio 38 – NIU 31 Comment: OU’s LaVon Brazill scored three touchdowns including a 91-yard punt return as the Bobcats stayed in contention for a possible MAC title birth providing they beat Temple on Friday. NIU passed for 307-yards and had a commanding 421-247 advantage in total offense.
