2008 Week #10 MAC Football Recap
Next Week’s Games: Tuesday – November 4
Wednesday – November 5
Saturday - November 8
Other MAC Notes:
Bufalo Bulls @ Ohio Bobcats
Nick’s Pick: Buffalo 30 - Ohio 21 Actual Score: Buffalo 32 - Ohio 19 Comment: Nick nearly had a perfect pick with this one as the Bulls took advantage of Ohio's disturbing 2008 trend of turnovers & penalties. The Bobcats fumbled the ball 7 times losing 4 of the fumbles and had 5 turnovers total along with 7 penalties. Nick stated "Don't be surprised to see Buffalo run the table and win the MAC East;" I have no reason to disagree. Ohio hosts BG on Saturday while Buffalo hosts Miami on Tuesday night on ESPN2.
Central Michigan @ IndianaNick’s Pick: Indiana 28 – Central Michigan 27 Actual Score: Central Michigan 37 - Indiana 34 Comment: Nick's pregame words: "Central Michigan should win this game but has an uncanny knack of losing to BCS teams." As Lee Corso would say, "not so fast my friend!" The Chippewas and Hoosiers battled back and forth all day in an exciting game that saw Brian Brunner toss for 485 yards and 4 TDs. Next up for CMU is a game @ Northern Illinois on November 12th.
Kent State @ Bowling Green
Nick’s Pick: Kent State 30 – BGSU 28 Actual Score: Bowling Green 45 - Kent State 30 Comment: "This publication is having a tough time picking against the Falcons in this contest considering they have dominated the series through the years." If Nick would have stopped here and picked the home team Falcons, then it would have been a 4-1 week and not a 3-2 week for Nick's Picks. Kent hosts Temple on November 12th while the Falcons play @ Ohio on Saturday.
Eastern Michigan @ Western Michigan
Temple Owls @ Navy
Nick’s Pick: Navy 26 – Temple 14 Actual Score: Navy 33 - Temple 27 - OT Comment: I watched much of this game including the entire 4th quarter and OT and really did not want to write about it after witnessing the meltdown. Temple is a talented team that the announcers say is still "learning how to win," but this team needs to get over the hump and this game was an embarassment. Temple had a 27-7 lead in the 4th quarter only to see Navy score 20 unanswered to send the game into overtime. Temple failed to score in OT as Navy's touchdown sealed the win for the Midshipmen. Temple's next game is @ Kent State on November 12th.
