Nick's 2007 MAC Football Picks - Week #11 Recap

Actual Score: Central Michigan 34 – Western Michigan 31

Nick’s Pick: Central Michigan 34 – Western Michigan 30

Line: Central Michigan by 5.5

Pre-game Comment: CMU/WMU is one of the very best rivalries in the MAC no matter what their records are entering the game. Western is looking to play the spoiler role in this contest and historically wins at home against their bitter rival. Central Michigan just seems to be hitting on all cylinders within MAC contests and for one of the very few times in this long-standing rivalry, should win a rare road game in Kalamazoo in a close contest.

Post Game Comment: Dan LeFevour scored on a keeper from 1-yard out with 12 seconds left made this prediction just one-point off from perfection; a terrific game to watch from a fan’s point of view, especially the 4th quarter where both teams scored 24 points.

Actual Score: Akron 48 – Ohio 37

Nick’s Pick: Ohio 28 – Akron 13

Line: Ohio by 3

Pre-game Comment: Ohio is turning it up a notch here in November while Akron has been ice cold for nearly a month.

Post Game Comment: Ohio continues to be one of the most perplexing teams in the land to predict. Akron put up 419 yards of total offense, one of their top offensive shows of the season.

Actual Score: BGSU 39 – Eastern 32

Nick’s Pick: BGSU 34 – Eastern Michigan 17

Line: BG by 5

Pre-game Comment: The Falcons are playing for a possible bowl bid and need to win out while the Eagles’ season was determined last week with their loss at Toledo.

Post Game Comment: An entertaining game with a whopping 4,304 in attendance at Ypsi as each team had 27 first downs and over 400 yards of offense. EMU lead 32-31 before BG scored with about 3 minutes remaining to seal the win.

Actual Score: Penn State 31 – Temple 0

Nick’s Pick: Penn State 31 – Temple 14

Line: Penn State by 25

Pre-game Comment: The Owls have the ability to make some plays with some young and talented players, but PSU is far stronger and deeper, and while playing uninspired football, Penn State will win by double digits.

Post Game Comment: Temple had a few scoring opportunities that did not produce any points in the red zone, otherwise this prediction would have been nearly perfect.

Actual Score: NIU 27 – Kent State 20

Nick’s Pick: NIU 23 – Kent State 18

Line: Kent State by 4

Pre-game Comment: In what may be one of the final home games coached by Joe Novak, the Huskies will show some pride and heart and pull out a close contest against a talented but hard-luck Golden Flash football team.

Post Game Comment: As predicted by this forum, there was no way this NIU program would not win a home game this season for Joe Novak, especially if this turns out to be his last. NIU put up 510 yards of offense with 235 rushing and 275 passing while KSU’s Eugene Jarvis had another stellar performance, rushing for 170.
