The Akron Zips finished the 2009 regular season as the Mid-American Conference Tournament Champions defeating Buffalo in the MAC Championship Game.

Kent State Golden Flashes

Kent State entered the postseason looking to continue their streak of 20-win seasons. With a 19-14 record in 2009, a win @ Oakland Univeristy in Michigan would have given them 11 consecutive 20-win seasons, however Kent fell 80-74 to finish their season 19-15.
