Buffalo, EMU advance on 1st day of 2013 MAC Tourney

The 2013 MAC Basketball Tournament tipped off this week and continued with two featured games on Wednesday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. With a unique format this season due to Toledo's lack a postseason eligibility, the Wednesday session brought an uninspiring crowd of over 2,100 fans to downtown Cleveland.

The action started with the #5 seed Ball State facing 8 seeded Buffalo where the Bulls were able to rebound from a 6-point halftime deficit to outscore Ball State 46-25 in the second half and cruise to a 76-61 win. Buffalo advances to face #4 seed Kent State on Thursday at 6:30 pm with the winner facing #1 seed Akron.

In the late game the seeding held true with #7 seed Eastern Michigan topping #11 Miami 58-47. The perennial contender Miami ends their season at 9-22 while EMU, a MAC bottom feeder for years, advances to face #3 seed and rival Western Michigan in the late game on Thursday night. The winner gets #2 seed Ohio on Friday night.

The 2013 MAC Tournament resumes live on SportsTime Ohio on Thursday night with one of the big draws in Cleveland, Kent State in action and likely to more than double the Thursday session's attendance.
