#1 - Buffalo (2)

9-1

1

22

RPI #80 - Survived a huge scare from Elon, the #294 RPI ranked team. Good teams get W's in those close games and the Bulls found a way to win.

#2t - Akron (1)

5-3

4

21

RPI #96 - The Zips are playing the opposite of Buffalo's schedule (3 losses - Cal, Louisville, Clemson). Zips fans have a lot to look forward to as this team definitely has the potential to be #1 in the MAC this year.

#2t - Northern Illinois

5-2

5

21

RPI #4 - While their RPI seems a bit inflated, NIU got a big "statement" win over Kansas State last week. If NIU had pulled off a W over Illinois-Chicago we may have them ranked #1 in the MAC.

#4 - Ohio

6-1

2

20

RPI #28 - Playing sloppy and barely holding on versus Detroit can cause a preseason favorite to fall all the way to 4th in the rankings with only 1 loss. A win over Kentucky would almost certainly bump the Bobcats back to #1.

#5t - Miami

4-4

3

19

RPI #101 - The RedHawks lost two games last week and many may think they should drop farther in the MAC Power Rankings. But Charlie is doing a good job with this young team through a tough stretch in the schedule and will have them ready for MAC play.

#5t - Toledo

6-2

6t

13

RPI #125 - Bring on C-USA! The Rockets defeated East Carolina on the same night at their football team beat UTEP in the GMAC Bowl. While beating C-USA is always fun for MAC and UT fans, ECU is #296 in the RPI.

#7t - Kent State

6-4

6t

11

RPI #224 - This team worries our staff. The Flashes have not had a W over a RPI top 150 team this year and struggled to beat non Division-I Concordia. 5 of the 6 Kent wins have been over teams ranked #269 or higher.

#7t - Ball State

4-2

8

11

RPI #103 - Like football season, Ball State is playing a very difficult OOC schedule. And like the football season the Cardinals have not beat any of the top opponents. Their RPI is high b/c of scheduling, not wins.

#9 - Eastern Michigan

3-4

9

8

RPI #247 - The Eagles knocked off C-USA's Tulsa last Thursday to improve to 3-4 on the year. EMU travels to face 0-14 Northern Colorado on Dec. 30th. The Bears have not been close in any game losing by 9 or more in the 14 straight losses. This is no time for the Eagles to let down their guard down.

#10 - Western Michigan

3-6

10

6

RPI #219 - Loss at Colorado State (RPI #26) is quite respectable. Good to see WMU get the win over Loyola Marymount, albeit a close one.

#11 - Bowling Green

3-6

11

4

RPI #214 - Big game coming up for the Falcons as they host Notre Dame on Dec. 29th. Non Division-I Notre Dame College that is. BGSU better be 4-6 going into conference play.

#12 - Central Michigan

2-7

12

2

RPI #315 - At 2-6 the Chippewas have completed thier OOC schedule with losses to three teams with RPI's above 250. The fans need to start lobbying for a new coach as outside of having Chris Kaman a few years back this program is going nowhere. If CMU is better than 2-16 in the MAC this year it will be a surprise.
